NH Made: Making A  Difference For Small Businesses

Membership Growth: New Hampshire Made (formally registered in 1997 as a 501 C 3 under the New Hampshire Stories, Inc. name), has grown to represent almost 750 member businesses statewide - and still growing! Regional meetings are held each fall and spring where member's network, receive updated information and promotional materials, and given instruction on how to more effectively do their own publications, marketing and promotion.

New Hampshire Products & Services Directory: At the beginning of each year, a full-color membership Directory is printed and distributed to wholesale buyers, corporate and government gift buyers, legislators, state libraries, trade shows, business conferences, expos and both current and potential members and sponsors.

Guide to New Hampshire Products & Services: This annual consumer-oriented publication is a huge success. By distributing 100,000 copies of the Guide free to consumers, people are becoming more aware of the "New Hampshire's Own" logo, the www.nhmade.com web site, and our member businesses. The Guide is distributed to every NH Interstate rest area, information center and the Manchester-Boston airport, as well as at fairs, festivals, farmers' markets and selected hotels, restaurants, lodging establishments and tourist attractions throughout the state.

The New Hampshire Stores on I-95 North and South: The two "New Hampshire Stores," owned and operated by New Hampshire Made, continue to not only generate sales for our members, but also help to achieve our mission of increasing the awareness, appreciation and demand for New Hampshire-made products. With the stores now securely established as self-sustaining businesses, these stores also provide exposure for the NH's Own logo, web site, and the consumer Guide.

www.nhmade.com Web Site: This comprehensive site provides every member with a full page to post their photos and information. It also provides free links to member's own web sites. The ability to search by keywords makes it easy to find the  foods, products and services consumers want as well as buyers looking for unique items to sell in their stores and restaurants. Each members has the ability to keep their own page updated with the latest information, thereby ensuring that every member has a presence on the web, no matter how small the business.

"New Hampshire's Own" Logo Brand Identity: More and more members are now using the "New Hampshire's Own" logo in their own materials including product packaging, business cards, web sites, place mats in restaurants, retail store shelf talkers, trade show booths, the sides of delivery trucks and more. The New Hampshire Farmers' Market Association, the New Hampshire Farm to Restaurant Connection, and the NH Department of Agriculture all use the logo in all of their materials. A multitude of other tie-in exposure opportunities occur throughout the year such as the NH Farm & Forest Expo, The Made in NH Expo, the Big E in Springfield, MA,  Farmers' Markets statewide and the state park gift shops that now promote NH-made items.

Regional Ambassadors: Within each of the 7 tourism regions of the state, a Regional Ambassador for NH Made has been designated to help members in their area network with each other and stay informed about marketing opportunities. Local meetings are held at a member's place of business so they can showcase their lodging, dining, or production/office facilities. Members bring brochures and product samples and discuss cost-effective marketing and public relations opportunities that they can work on together.

The New Hampshire Made E- Newsletter:  The e-newsletter is distributed every week to the membership, filled with information about New Hampshire Made news, upcoming events, workshops, seminars, promotional opportunities, co-op buying opportunities, member news and profiles and highlights of our newest members. This form of communication has been very effective and greatly appreciated by all of our members, sponsors, and partners because of its timeliness, thoroughness, and usefulness.

Partnership Expansion: Cooperative relationships with like-minded organizations continues to expand - whether it's other non-profit organizations such as Hannah Grimes and WREN, or business organizations such as the NH Lodging and Restaurant Association and the NH Grocers Association, or agricultural groups such as the NH Farm Bureau, or the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension. NH Made also works closely with state organizations such as the Division of Tourism, State Parks and Recreation, the International Trade Resource Center, the Department of Cultural Resources, the Department of Agriculture and other business support groups such as Mico-Credit, SBDC, SCORE, the Women's Business Center, and Chamber of Commerce associations. Organizations that have become official "standing committees" within the NH Made organization include the NH Farmers Market Association, the NH Farm to Restaurant Connection, and and the NH Winery Association.

Funding Support: Funding support for NH Made is from a variety of supporters who recognize the significant contribution our organization is making to New Hampshire's entrepreneurial micro-businesses. These sources have included the NH Department of Resource and Economic Development, Citizen's Bank, Public Service of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Verizon, Ocean National Bank, First Pioneer Farm Credit, RAM Printing, Boston Private Investors, Providian Bank, the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, and the Community Development Finance Authority. In addition, our organization receives funds from annual membership dues, ad sales in our publications, and sales at our two NH Stores located on I-95 Northbound and Southbound in Hampton, NH.
