Gail Moriarty is a Silversmith who specializes in commissioned work. She is also a Senior Certified Instructor in Art Clay. She teaches and practices the art of metal clay from her studio, Colibri Designs, in Nashua, New Hampshire. Classes are scheduled weekdays on an as-requested basis (weekends as requested). She welcomes walk-in visitors, and generally she can be found in the studio weekdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM but it's best to call first, to be sure she's available. For more information about the studio, classes, her original creations, and ongoing commission work, please visit her website at www.ColibriDesigns.com.

If you're not familiar with Metal Clay, it is a moldable clay material that consists of small particles of silver, copper, or bronze mixed together with an organic binder. Using metal clay, you form, mold, or carve your jewelry, dry it completely, file and bring out details in your work, and then fire the piece in the kiln. The organic binder burns off, and you then have a 99.9% pure fine silver, copper or bronze piece of jewelry. It is then burnished and/or tumbled to bring out the shine.

No experience is necessary for a class. Gail will walk you through the process completely, and at the end of the class you take home a beautiful piece of jewelry you've made yourself.

The studio carries a variety of pendants, earrings, rings, and bracelets for sale, as well as Gift Certificates. Whether you're shopping for yourself or others, give the gift of a hand crafted piece of jewelry to a special someone -- or-- a gift certificate for a class, so they can create a special piece of jewelry they've always wanted. Groups are welcomed -- it's a great way to spend a day with family, friends, a wedding party or bridal shower.
