Gail Moriarty is a Custom Jewelry Designer who specializes in commissioned work. She is also a Senior Certified Instructor in Art Clay. She works from her studio in The Picker Artists building at 3 Pine Street in Nashua. She teaches and practices the art of metal clay from her studio as well. She offers her jewelry for sale at her studio and welcomes walk-in visitors. Classes are scheduled weekdays on an as-requested basis (weekends as requested). Generally, she can be found in the studio weekdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM but it's best to call first, to be sure she's available. For more information about the studio, classes, her original creations, and ongoing commission work, please visit her website at www.ColibriDesigns.com.
If you're not familiar with Metal Clay, it is a moldable clay material that consists of small particles of fine silver, sterling silver, or bronze mixed together with an organic binder. Using metal clay, you form, mold, or carve your jewelry, dry it completely, file and bring out details in your work, and then fire the piece in the kiln. The organic binder burns off, and you are left with fine silver, sterling silver, or a bronze piece of jewelry. It is then burnished and/or tumbled to bring out the shine.
No experience is necessary for a class. Gail will walk you through the process completely.
The studio carries a variety of pendants, earrings, rings, and bracelets for sale, as well as Gift Certificates. Whether you're shopping for yourself or others, give the gift of a hand crafted piece of jewelry to a special someone -- or-- a gift certificate. Groups are welcomed -- it's a great way to spend a day with family, friends, a wedding party or bridal shower.
